Richard and Shakirah have known each other since 8th grade! They both attended Merry Acres Middle School in Albany, GA, and graduated from Westover High in 2001. Although they've known each other since middle school they didn't start dating until after college. Richard claims he liked Shakirah in middle school but never talked to her LOL. Funny story...Shakirah is right-handed, and Richard is left-handed. They shared a table in chemistry class and fussed every day. Why? Because they were placed on the wrong side and bumped arms while writing. Silly right? They went from fussing to friendship over the course of the years. They began dating in 2013; Richard proposed to Shakirah on Christmas 2017. Their wedding took place in Albany, GA on September 1, 2018. Their goal as far as parenting is concerned is to be the best parents that they can be so that they can provide a wonderful life for children. Unfortunately, their attempts to conceive have been unsuccessful. Sometime after a miscarriage occurred, Shakirah was recently diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. This has halted any future attempts to conceive. No matter if they could conceive or not, their goal has always been to adopt. Richard is adopted and that has held a special place in their heart to provide for a child as his parents did for him.
